NEWSLETTER

WINTER ISSUE, 2006

Dear Friends of the Arts Council . . .

The American Indian Arts Council (AIAC) Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who has responded to our Annual Membership Drive.  The AIAC is deeply indebted to many folks who express their support year after year by renewing their memberships.  Also, we have been fortunate to have individuals who joined this year for the first time.  As many of you know, the Membership Drive helps to sustain our organization’s cultural and educational activities during the year.  Membership is open to anyone who wishes to join.

In case you may not know, the AIAC recently opened the “Native Arts Center & Gallery” on December 1st , located in the Preston Forest Shopping Center.  Major funding from The Meadows Foundation, the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs and the Mixon Investment Company, plus our many dedicated volunteers and supporters, allowed the AIAC to transform this idea into reality.  This is an exciting, major endeavor for the AIAC and affords us the opportunity to move in new directions by establishing a year-round community presence with a variety of cultural programs, activities, and wonderful handmade works of art by Native American artists for exhibiting and selling.  Since all the artwork is on consignment, any profits generated help to defray expenses and support the planned activities staged in the facility

From all indications, this project has gotten off to a wonderful start and has been warmly received by the entire community.  The AIAC is optimistic that the center and gallery will continue to thrive, especially since no other facility of its kind exists in the state of Texas.

We certainly hope you enjoy receiving this Newsletter which is a benefit offered by our membership program.  Also, we hope you find the information interesting and useful.  Help us spread the word by passing it along to a friend.
